VOLUNTEERING
& EMPLOYMENT
We are a relatively small organisation,
employing just eight full time animal wardens. All our
wardens are required to have, or to be training towards,
an appropriate zoo animal management qualification.
We currently have no vacancies.
VOLUNTEERING
& STUDENT WORK PLACEMENTS
We take volunteer animal wardens
and work placement students over 18 years of age only.
Normally, we arrange for volunteers / students to come
in for an interview and require references prior to
starting. We will give prioirty to those volunteers
who can stay for at least one month. As we only have
a small team of wardens, it is important that volunteer
wardens work well with others.
We are also always grateful for individuals
who may want to volunteer their services in any other way
such as grounds and maintenance work. For these, experience
is a necessity.
There is bothy accommodation onsite for
volunteers. The bothies are situated behind the service buildings,
which have kitchen facilities and a shower-room. If you wish
to arrange your own accommodation, there is “The Laird’s
Bothy” bunkhouse in Kingussie (3 miles), or self-catering
nearby at Meadowside Cottages. We can arrange for volunteers
to be picked up from our nearest railway station at Kingussie.
If this information is of interest
to you and you decide you would like to spend some time
with us, please complete and return the following volunteer
application form with references, marking it for the
attention of the Head Keeper or e-mail on msellars@rzss.org.uk
